PROVINCETOWN, MA — To spend this holiday, Tim and I went to Cape Cod to enjoy the dazzling weather. We weren’t quite sure where we wanted to go at first, but we decided to go to a place where we haven’t been to — Provincetown.
It is located on the very tip of Massachusetts. Thus, making it the tip of the East Coast. (Now, I can finally say that I’ve been on both ends of the United States; I have been to the end of Route 66 at Santa Monica Pier). Anyway, though this town is only 2 hours away out of the city, it is like being transported into another world. The streets here are very narrow, and the stores are old-fashioned. Just like the ones you see on movies. Most people ride on bikes and their houses are enormous! This town has a reputation of having many homosexual residents. Which is undeniable; most of the store owners and employees we encountered were outwardly gay — which is absolutely fine by us. Matter of fact, I’ve noticed that this small town has the most polite and friendliest people in Massachusetts.
We had lunch at this outdoor restaurant called “The Patio”, I had lobster with corn and potatoes while Tim had some fish, fries and coleslaw. Absolutely scrumptious. Nothing beats the taste of New England seafood. We wandered around town to check out exotic restaurants. We were so excited to learn that there’s a little bit of everything in this town — from Ostrich (yes, ostrich!) sandwich to glass bottled old-fashioned cream soda — they have it all here. After marveling at the unique restaurants, we went to a homemade ice cream shop. Then, sat at the small park located at the center of town to eat our ice cream and talk about life.
The highlight of the day is probably our short side trip to Herring Cove beach. This is the northernmost beach in Massachusetts, and by far the most beautiful I’ve seen in the East Coast. Listening to the sound of the waves and the squawk of the birds; feeling the heat of the sun and the sand on your toes; while holding the hand of your loved one is probably the best feeling one can get. Truly, the best things in life are free. After getting our sun tan on, Tim and I went to go pick up some exotic looking rocks by the seashore. It was so much fun.
We ended our trip by having a quick dinner at Kreme N Kone in Dennis, MA. By the way, I drove from Provincetown to Dennis … and I’m so proud of myself. :)
Thank you Lord for these great experiences.
