You get ahead in life when you become a blessing to others; not when you put them down. Growing up, I was always taught to be positively competitive:

Whatever they can do, you can do better.

You must excel in everything you do.

Critical thinking, critical thinking.

Check, then double check.

Don’t criticize unless you have a solution.

Those were just some words that were drilled into my head. There’s nothing wrong with that. In fact, I am actually very happy that my family raised me in such a way because I turned out to be a strong young woman. I am trained to be mentally and emotionally strong. I am trained to be successful. I am trained to get ahead in life.

This world is a vicious place. People WILL talk behind your back because they think that doing so will get them somewhere, but let me tell you this..I learned that the key on getting ahead is helping others succeed in life. You should use the blessings and opportunities that you have in order to help others. Share your talents. Share your skill. Share your craft. God gave us special talents so that we can share them to the world. What’s the use of your talent if nobody will “inherit” them?

Nino Lombardi, 82, called me at work to ask about something completely different. He was asking me about TV related inquiry. After listening to his comment re: our station, he revealed to me that he is an artist. He said he is already very old so he just gives away his paintings to little kids so that they can be reminded that we should protect our environment. Moved and touched, I expressed my gratitude for his kindness. He said it makes him happy to see others happy. He said “you can’t realize how happiness and kindness mean until you do it to others.

We have to learn that at the end of this life, we will be remembered NOT by our riches or status, but by how many people we’ve helped while living in this world; by the number of people we have inspired; by the memories we’ve shared with others. Most importantly, at the end of this life… no human being can tell you WHO you are and HOW much you have achieved during your lifetime. Only God can personally congratulate you in your personal achievements.

There is nothing more satisfying than being an inspiration to another person, not only they will remember you forever but they will share the lessons they’ve learned from you to the rest of the world.

God bless us all.

Sincerely,

Hanah
